Lavender

Did you know that Lavender essential oil has antibiotic, antiseptic, antiviral, and antifungal properties? This makes it one of the absolute BEST essential oils to have in the home. It can help with tension, stress, headaches, nausea, relieves itching skin, and stimulates cell regeneration especially good for minor burns, sunburn and insect bites. As an aid for emotional fears, worry, nervousness and is wonderful for relaxing and calming the mind which helps to promote better sleep. Really the list goes on and on, it is an amazing essential oil, a must have.

Blends well with: most other oils including Rose, Geranium, Chamomile, Jasmine, Orange, Lemon, Bergamot, Rosemary, Marjoram, Patchouli, Clary Sage, Cedarwood, Clove and Tea Tree.

Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus essential oil is antibiotic, antiseptic and antiviral. It makes a brilliant decongestant and is especially helpful with head colds and for clearing the mind. It should be stated that Eucalyptus essential oil MUST BE DILUTED to 1% or even less for children’s preparations such as chest rubs and SHOULD NEVER  be applied to or near the face of children under 10 years of age.

Blends well with: Peppermint, Tea Tree, Rosemary, Thyme, Lavender, Cedarwood, Lemon, Bergamot, Cypress, Petitgrain,Pine, and Orange.

Tea Tree

Again this is an amazing essential oil it is antibiotic, antiseptic, antiviral and antifungal. It is used for sunburn, acne, athlete’s foot, toothache, coughs and colds, and as an excellent antiseptic. It MUST BE KEPT AWAY FROM ANIMALS AND CHILDREN, AND PREGNANT OR LACTATING WOMEN.

Blends well with: Lavender, Geranium, Chamomile, Myrrh, Lemon, Rosemary, Clary Sage, Marjoram, Pine, Cinnamon, Nutmeg and Clove.

Peppermint

Peppermint essential oil has antiseptic properties and is used for digestion, to treat an upset stomach, bad breath, gum disease, it is very useful for the respiratory system, for treating colds and tension headaches, toothache and fatigue.

Blends well with: Eucalyptus, Lavender, Marjoram, Lemon and Rosemary.

Geranium

Geranium essential oil has antiseptic properties and is used to balance hormones, PMT, reduce stress and tension, uplifting and relaxing for body and mind, used in skincare for balancing oily skin and to nourish dry sensitive skin. It is a really good all round essential oil.

Blends well with: Lavender, Bergamot, Rose, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Frankincense, Lemon, Jasmine, Juniper, Tea Tree, Benzoin, and Basil.

Rosemary

Rosemary essential oil has antiseptic properties and is a wonderful essential oil to use. It is a stimulating oil so very good to use in the morning, while it is also excellent for muscle aches so is also very beneficial for the end of the day, good for sprains, arthritis, depression, headaches, coughs, and excellent for mental clarity, aids mental fatigue, used in skin and hair care.

Blends well with: Lavender, Frankincense,Petitgrain, Basil,Thyme, Bergamot, Peppermint, Pine, Cedarwood, Cypress, Cinnamon, Clove, Ginger and Black Pepper.

Lemon

Lemon essential oil is antibiotic, antiseptic and antifungal, is good to balance the nervous system, is refreshing and revitalising, use to treat verrucas, insect bites and as a great cleaner for the home.

Blends well with: Lavender, Rose, Ylang Ylang, Neroli,Chamomile, Juniper,Benzoin, Frankincense, Black Pepper, Basil, Sandalwood, Orange, Lime and Bergamot.

Chamomile Roman

Chamomile essential oil is an extremely useful oil to have in the home. It has antibiotic and antiseptic properties. There are several types  Chamomile German  or Blue has a beautiful blue colour due to its high azulene content it is however very expensive.  An excellent and more commonly used variety is Chamomile Roman. It is excellent for dry/itchy skin, acne, eczema, dermatitis, burns, sunburn, helps ease PMT, good for stomach pains, nausea, fever, headaches, migraines, nervous tension and tiredness, has a calming effect, rejuvenated and is wonderful for use with children.

Blends well with: Lavender, Bergamot, Clary Sage, Geranium and Jasmine.

Thyme

Thyme essential oil is antibiotic,antiseptic,antiviral and antifungal. Can help to improve circulation, used as a decongestant, for  respiratory and digestion problems, as a chest or muscle rub for colds and coughs. Add 2 – 3 drops in a bath to help ease joint and muscle pain.

Blends well with: Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lavender, Rosemary and Pine.
